The Film Club of Durgapur Women’s College strives for a world in which enlightenment, knowledge, and tolerance prevail. We believe film as an art form has the power to bridge cultures and illuminate the universality of the human experience. The film club is a creative innovation by our institution that allows students to explore the marvels of world cinema. The students have opportunities to watch and learn from different movies ranging across the categories of Classics, Black and White movies, Documentaries, Blockbusters, Foreign Language Titles, and so on. Following the airing, the students are encouraged to draft their own critical reviews that they watch on the mini theatre in the campus. This allows them to explore their creative potential and introduces them to various social concepts through the medium of cinema. The members of the Film Club firmly believe in getting students and peers together to collectively enjoy watching films and strive towards making the process of screening movies a fun and pleasurable experience. We have screened “The Sound of Music”, “City Lights”, and “Heera Rajar Deshe” so far.
