The Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI Act-2005) has been enacted by the Parliament and has come into force from 15th June, 2005. The Act provides the right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities that promotes transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority. All Universities and Colleges established by law made by the parliament or by State Legislature or by the notification of appropriate Govt. authority or controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the Govt. shall come within the purview of Public Authority under this Act. As per the directive of the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal and UGC Guidelines, Durgapur Women’s College implemented the Right to Information Act-2005.
