National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The college raises one unit of National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets under the 5 Bengal Girls’ Bn. Group at Purta Bhawan, Burdwan. Healthy students who enjoy hard work, outdoor activities and adventures are encouraged to join, on application to the Battalion, through the College. Application forms are available at the college after due notification. Cadets can appear for NCC ‘B’ Certificate & ‘C’ Certificate on successful completion of 3 years of training. Candidates with ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificates obtain bonus marks in many govt. jobs.

The NCC unit of the College had been functional since 1996 and after a period of discontinuation, the Unit was raised again in 2014. The NCC cadets have attended several state/regional/national level camps; have participated in the various activities organized by the camps, achieving awards and distinctions.

The Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of the College’s NCC unit is Prof. Mitali Ghosh Moulick, SACT, Sanskrit.

5 Bengal Girls Battalion NCC Bardhaman, organized NCC Day at Bardhaman MUC Women’s College. DWC Cadets participated and performed March Past, Group Dance, Group Song, Solo Dance & Social Awareness Drama ‘Kill of Female Foetus’
8th-9th December 2018 – Cycle Rally (Durgapur to Deul 70 KM) “Know Your City by Cycle Rally”, DWC NCC Cadets participated and successfully completed it

Rock Climbing 27th Dec – 31st Dec 2018 at Purulia Joichandi Pahar. DWC Cadets participated and successfully performed Adventure Skill “Rock Climbing”
5th January to 16th January 2018 – Special National Integration Camp at Andaman Port Blair. DWC NCC ANO Lt Mitali Ghosh Moulick attended as a representative ANO of West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate
14th June – 25th June 2018 – DWC NCC ANO attended CATC Camp at Panagarh
26th August – 27th August 2018 – DWC ANO conducted Guest ANO Role during 5 Bengal organized CATC Camp at Panagarh on occasion cultural events
2nd October – 12th October 2018 – DWC NCC ANO attended “National Integration Camp (NIC)” Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat at Panagarh, awarded a memorandum as a representative ANO of “5 Bengal Girls Bn NCC”
26th November 2018 – NCC Day. DWC NCC ANO attended NCC Celebration Day at Bardhaman MUC Women’s College

Cadet Achievements:

Best Cadet Award 2018: 28th August 2018, DWC Cadet SUO (Senior Under Officer) rank holder Arpita Chakraborty was awarded “Best Cadet Award” from Bardhaman Group by Group Commander on 28th August 2018
Achievements in Mountaineering 2018: 1st June to 26th June 2018, 2nd Yr NCC Cadet Saraswati Singh performed mountaineering at Manali, climbed up to a height of 15600 ft. Out of 24 participants, only six achieved the feat; she was among them, also mentioning she is the only one from plains and other five participants were hill people.
