ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT Electronics Department of Durgapur Women’s College has been started in the year of 1994 with special assistance from the University Grants Commission. During the period 1994-1999, UGC provided financial assistance for teaching and non-teaching staff and for the development of Infrastructure (Laboratory, etc.). The department was started with B. Sc. General Course under the University of Burdwan. In 1999 the Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal, sanctioned the Electronics Department in this college with the approval of one teaching and two non-teaching posts. From the year 1999 onwards, the college has been receiving the financial assistance from the West Bengal Govt. The Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol has been started functioning from the academic session 2014-15 and from the A.Y. 2015-16, the department has started offering undergraduate courses of the University with Generic Elective (GE) Course in Electronics for B.Sc. Honours students and B.Sc. (Program) Courses in Electronics for the female students. Since then the department has also been offering Discipline Specific Elective Program and Skill Enhancement Courses for students of other science departments. From 2023-24, the Department has started offering 3 year B.Sc. UG degree program under NCCF curriculum as directed by UGC, Govt. of India and Higher Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal and adopted by KNU, Asansol. The Electronics Department has been offering Minor and MD courses for the students of other departments of the college. The department has a well equipped UG Laboratory. The departmental maintains a seminar library with text and reference books for the students. Dr. Dulal Chandra Sen after completion of his doctoral degree from IIT, Kharagpur and Post Doctoral Research from the Department of E&ECE, Kharagpur IIT has joined the department in 1995 as Lecturer. Currently, he is serving as an Associate Professor in the department. Since his joining, he has taken keen interests to develop and improve the departmental facilities and given his student the bests to teach and motivate them. The faculty member had acted as a member of U.G.B.S. in Electronics of the University of Burdwan for many years, and was also Chairman of the Board for six years. Currently, he is a member of U.G.B.S. (in Electronics) & member of the UG Syllabus Committee of the Kazi Nazrul University. A certain percentage of students perform laboratory based projects at their own interests. They design and fabricate some application based electronic circuits. Charts are displayed during theoretical and practical classes. Lectures are delivered so as to reach all students. Live demonstrations are often given in the laboratory for better understanding of the topics covered in the theoretical classes. Home assignments are usually given to the students. Class tests are taken. Slow learners are given special tutorial assistance to cope up the syllabus. As a result, most of the students perform better in their university examinations and secure high percentage of marks/grades

Electronics Department
Infrastructural Facilities Laboratory — Electronics Laboratory is well equipped and maintained to cover the General UG curriculum of the university. Sufficient numbers of Analog and Digital circuits are there in the laboratory. It is enriched with DC Power Supply of various ranges, Signal Generators (Oscillators), Oscilloscopes (CRO), Digital Multimeters, Table Top Digital Voltmeters and Current Meters of various ranges, Frequency Meters, Potentiometers, AC Bridges, Trainer Kits, Bread Boards, Electronic Spare Parts, etc. Interested students get a very good exposure to electronic equipments and circuits. Departmental Library — Along with the College Central Library the department runs and maintains a Departmental Seminar Library for the students. There are nearly two hundred books (Text and Reference) in the departmental library. Students feel convenient and comfortable to use the departmental library for reading and lending of text and reference books. This has been running for more than last twenty years and has become beneficial to the students. Sample question papers of both university and College examinations are available in the Departmental Seminar Library for ready reference to the students of the department. Computers with Internet facilities are available in the department for Staff & Students of the college.
