About the Department
The Durgapur Women’s College was founded in the year 1980 .Sanskrit as a subject was introduced in the beginning . Students who were interested in Sanskrit from the start demonstrated their value by doing well on university exams. In our college Sanskrit Honours was introduced in the year 2008.From the beginning our department had got only one teacher but Presently there are Eight teachers in the department. One of them have been awarded PhD Degree. Several research papers that the teachers have presented at national and international seminars. Numerous articles that they have published in peer-reviewed journals. They genuinely care about the well-being of the pupils. All of the students are very loyal and they are very much obedient to their teachers.
Departmental Library – A collection of text books and reference books are kept up to date in the Seminar Library. Books were routinely checked out by students for their studies.
Research Activities
In addition to their regular college responsibilities, the faculty members actively participate in research and teaching activities. The research areas cover a wide range of language and literature topics and their multidisciplinary components.
